Q: WHAT TYPE OF CAREGIVER DO I NEED?
The type of caregiver and qualifications that you need depends on the services you would like your caregiver to provide. PCAs, HHAs, and CNAs all work with seniors and disabled people on a daily basis. They help with every day homemaking and companion care activities such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, dressing, toileting, moving around, running errands, and performing light housekeeping tasks. Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) provide companionship and assistance with basic tasks of daily living. Home Health Aides (HHAs) complete a training program to meet state requirements and are qualified to assist seniors who need help with more complex needs. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) have additional training and are certified to work under the supervision of a nurse to perform medical-related tasks such as taking vital signs, changing dressings, cleaning catheters, controlling infections, and administering treatments. If you aren’t sure, we can help you determine the type of caregiver you need or refer you to an independent geriatric care manager who can help assess your needs.
Q: HOW ARE RATES, SCHEDULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DETERMINED?
With Meetcaregivers, you can choose caregivers that meet your budget, schedule, and other requirements and preferences. Caregivers set their own rates and availability, which are listed on their online profiles. The caregiver rates listed include the cost of screening, background checks, payroll processing, insurance, and customer support. There is no minimum number of hours for caregivers, but many caregivers prefer to work a minimum shift of 4 hours per day and a minimum of 3 shifts per week. Caregiver rates typically depend on the number of hours needed, specific job responsibilities, and the distance they will travel to work.
Q: CAN YOU PROVIDE BACKUP CARE?
Yes! If a caregiver needs to take planned or unplanned time off, we can help. Our database includes hundreds of pre-screened and qualified caregivers and we are ready to help find you the backup care you need when you need it.
Q: IS MEETCAREGIVERS BONDED AND INSURED?
Yes! Meetcaregivers carries a general and professional liability policy, workers compensation insurance, and a crime bond for the protection of our clients.
Q: HOW DO I PAY MY CAREGIVERS?
We will send you an electronic invoice for the hours worked by your caregivers every two weeks. You approve the hours and pay Meetcaregivers online. We then pay the caregivers directly, so you don’t need to leave cash or checks for your caregivers or worry about employment taxes, workers compensation, or other employer obligations.
Q: HOW DO YOU SELECT AND PRE-SCREEN THE CAREGIVERS?
Every caregiver listed on our website has completed a comprehensive job application and an in-person interview. We look for caregivers who have a minimum of one year of relevant experience and who have the compassion and patience to care for seniors in their homes. We check references, verify applicable certifications, and run criminal background checks at no extra cost to you.
